CIPLA: Owner and Founder

Dr. Khwaja Abdul Hamied’ was an Indian nationalist and anti-imperialist scientist who founded Cipla, India's oldest pharmaceutical company in 1935. His son, Yusuf Hamied is an Indian scientist and billionaire businessman, the former chairman of Cipla. He headed the company after him for the next 52 years.

Cipla Limited is an Indian multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, headquartered in Mumbai, India. Cipla primarily develops medicines to treat respiratory, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, diabetes, weight control and depression; other medical conditions.
